January Family of the Month:  Deacon Lou and Mary Russello.

Deacon Lou, a member of our KofC council, has assisted at many different parish programs and activities in his role as an ordained deacon.  He is now recovering from illness and temporarily stepping back from major duties.  Mary is ready to step up for so many different parish activities and programs.

Council #13360 - Check to Perinatal Hospice & Tender Care

The Christ the King Knights of Council #13360 dontated the funds raised during the M.I. Drive to Perinatal Hospice and Tender Care of Washtenaw County in Ann Arbor.

Perinatal Hospice and Tender Care of Washtenaw County is an organization that provides support to families whose unborn child has severe problems, but who choose to carry their baby to full term.  Often these babies die shortly after childbirth.  But when they survive childbirth, they are severely disabled.  According to Janet Holtz, Director at Perinatal Hospice,   "The primary purpose of Perinatal Hospice of Washtenaw is to provide support to families who have been told that their unborn baby has an adverse diagnosis. Sometimes the condition diagnosed will result in an early death of the baby and sometimes it means that the child will have significant problems throughout life . Often that can mean mental and physical retardation. We help these families find resources and offer them guidance on their path.  We also provide them with special mementos of the child’s birth and life and continued support for whatever length of time they need it."

The Knights of Columbus of Christ the King Council #13360, along with their families and other Knights from District 57 came out for the December Lecture / Christmas party and were treated to an inspiring talk, led by our District Deputy, Dan Gibbons and Michigan State Director Ed Strach, on FAITH IN ACTION.  The talk, along with the subsequent Q&A Session, detailed the four "pillars" of the program (Faith, Community, Family, and Life) as well as the supporting programs for each category and how they can build better Councils and better Knights as faith-filled men of God.  Following the talk, all in attendance were treated to Christmas cookies and other snacks as well as a time for fellowship, where many had a chance to brainstorm about ways to implement these programs.  As anticipated, a good time was had by all.
